Senior AI Engineer – Abu Dhabi-Based Financial Services & FinTech Startup

Davidson Tech Recruitment has been mandated to recruit a Senior AI Engineer for their client in Dubai, which is an Abu Dhabi-based financial services and FinTech startup expanding its AI engineering and technology development capabilities. The company is seeking a highly accomplished software engineer with extensive hands-on experience developing AI-powered financial applications and a strong understanding of financial services, banking, credit, lending, accounting or financial operations. The role will focus on building intelligent financial technology solutions including AI-assisted credit assessment, financial-statement interpretation, automated borrower and transaction document analysis, risk and compliance workflows, financial data extraction, AI-powered reporting, management dashboards, enterprise knowledge platforms and autonomous AI agents supporting complex financial processes. Candidates must be proficient in Python and modern software engineering practices, with strong practical experience using OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, leading open-source LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings, AI agents, function calling, structured outputs, REST APIs, databases, document-processing frameworks and cloud infrastructure. Experience developing secure, scalable financial applications and integrating AI with financial databases, accounting software, CRM platforms, loan-management systems or enterprise financial applications would be particularly advantageous. Candidates should be capable of interpreting balance sheets, P&L statements, cash-flow reports, financial ratios and financial performance information and understand the importance of data confidentiality, accuracy, auditability, access controls and regulatory compliance within financial services. The successful candidate will collaborate directly with the founders, technology leadership and financial operations teams to identify opportunities for automation, develop working prototypes, independently build production-ready applications and continuously improve the company's AI capabilities. Previous professional experience delivering AI projects for banks, lending institutions, financial services businesses, FinTech companies or financial software providers is mandatory. Candidates should possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent English communication, a high degree of technical independence and the ability to develop complete applications rather than merely integrate third-party AI tools. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Engineering or a related quantitative discipline is required. Davidson will prioritise candidates who can demonstrate at least two substantial AI or software projects they personally developed for financial applications, supported by project links, demonstrations, technical architecture details or other verifiable evidence of their individual contribution and successful implementation. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Dubai for an AI Engineer seeking substantial ownership of AI product development within a growing GCC financial technology business.
